Momento Monumento

Based on the experience of the activation program of the Wilton Paes de Almeida Tower, we developed a proposal for an evolutionary architecture that would gradually accompany the transformation of the building while adapting to the needs of its users and those inherent to the metamorphosis of downtown Sao Paulo today. Artists’ residences as well as the housing of people involved in the functioning of the place can be transformed into dwellings. Periodic events would then come to produce new exchanges between international artists and the living forces of São Paulo. If the Wilton Paes de Almeida building is a happy meeting point between actors in the revitalization of the center, a cultural season, and a collective of artists – builders. The activation process we have imagined is as follows: the GRPU, owner of the building, makes it available, while at the same time a workshop is set up to study its long-term future. It delegates a cultural producer -Olhar imaginario- jointly with a French cultural producer- 3rd pole & Eva Albarran to manage the cultural season. Coloco & Exyzt ensure the project and artistic direction of Momento Monumento, which mobilizes artists from both countries in two collaborative, open and multidisciplinary works. Throughout the season, Wilton Paes de Almeida comes back to life and has many surprises in store for you.
